On Tuesday the 27^th of November the Jungchemiker Innsbruck organized an excursion to Montanwerke Brixlegg. Montanwerke Brixelegg is an Austrian company specialized in the recovery and recycling of copper from copper scrap. Being the only Austrian copper producer, the company annually processes 160.000 metric tons of copper scrap, yielding 120.000 metric tons of pure copper.
The participants of the excursion were introduced to the step-wise recovery process of precious metals. First, a short presentation was held about the company's history and the chemical recycling procedure. Second, the company premises were shown to the participants, who were allowed to have an in depth view into the individual steps of the recovery process.
