At the beginning of the winter semester in 2018 there was this idea to achieve more visibility of the Young Chemists in Linz by offering regular events for the chemistry students and thus give them more opportunities for recreational activities with their peers. For that purpose, on October 17^th we hosted our first Young Chemists' PubQuiz to complement the regular's table of the StV Chemie in the Jazzkeller of the KHG Kellerbar. This offer was apparently received quite well, such that we were able to welcome 40 PubQuiz enthusiasts in ten teams despite this format still being more or less half-baked. For instance, this first PubQuiz was completely free and the questions were more heavily focused on chemistry, which, surprisingly, did not score that well with chemistry students. However, the resonance was still mostly positive, which motivated us to keep up with this format. The three best teams, among them "Meine persönlichen Favoriten" on rank 1, were rewarded with prices, which were consumed right away at the chemistry student's regular's table.

The second Young Chemist's PubQuiz on November 21^st was already quite different compared to our first PubQuiz. For instance, we realized that prices had to be paid for. However, since we did not want to forego prices for our best teams, we implemented a participation fee of 5,- euros per team. Nevertheless, and despite of upcoming exams, five teams of five set out to prove their intellectual prowess in now much more diverse questions. After eight rounds "SK Lation" came out on top and secured the first price and with that the highest doted voucher for the KHG Kellerbar, which did not survive this evening. We would like to thank all participants who were not discouraged by participation fees and instead encouraged us to keep up our PubQuizzes and to keep improving them!

Naturally, we took that advice to heart. The third and last Young Chemists' PubQuiz in the winter semester on January 16th was based much more heavily on multimedia. Not only were the questions once again more diverse, but thanks to beamer and screen a number of new tricky problems such as guessing a movie title from emojis were also added to our repertoire. After eight rounds and over two hours with seven participating teams the team "Dichter dank Trichter" seized the first rank and ousted the defending champion "SK Lation" who ended up on the second rank. As always, the three best teams were rewarded with vouchers for the KHG Kellerbar and we would like to thank our winning team for the excellent group picture. Moreover, we would like to thank all participants throughout the whole winter semester for receiving this format so well and for supporting us to keep it going. We hope to see some or all of our "regular teams" again in the summer semester!
