The field trip to the Sandoz AG plant in Kundl took place on 31.10.2019. Sandoz AG is a subgroup of Novartis AG and produces mainly generics in Kundl, drugs that have expired patents. In particular, antibiotics are produced at the Kundl plant.

At 9 am we arrived with a total of 23 participants in the Sandoz Visitor Center and were greeted by two employees. Equipped with audio guides we were split into two groups and were guided through the factory. We received Insight into the areas of fermentation, production, logistics and purification.

At one point the participants had to wear sterile clothing, to visit the production area.

The field trip was followed by a Q&A session with two employees of Sandoz: an HR employee and a former doctoral student of the University of Innsbruck, who is now active in the areas of Quality Management and Quality Assurance at Sandoz.

The participants of the field trip enthusiastically asked questions about working at Sandoz and the opportunities they offer for chemistry and pharmacy graduates. The end the excursion was of course accompanied by a group photo. "
