Speakers:
Univ.Prof. Dr. Georg Steinhauser
Date
December 7, 2022
On December 7th, 2022, the excursion to the Institute for Atomic and Subatomic Physics of the TU Wien took place. Georg Steinhauser, professor of Applied Radiochemistry at TU Wien, introduced the research areas of the institute and his projects to the 17 participants.
During the 90-minute tour, the TRIGA Mk II research reactor, the hot cells for working with highly radioactice materials, and the radiochemical laboratories were shown. The final stop was a small exhibition of uranium ores and everyday items containing radioisotopes.
The research reactor was in operation at the time of the tour, and the blue Cherenkov radiation could be observed.
The Young Chemists Vienna would like to thank Professor Georg Steinhauser for this great insight into the institute and his work!
Join the pubquiz of the Young Chemists Linz at the KHG bar for a nice drink and some tricky questions!
The Young Chemists are hosting a get-to-know-you event and games night on October 22 at CCB at approximately 20:00 for all students, but especially freshmen, to meet new people and socialize.
