On Monday, 07.11.2022 the excursion - Young Chemistry Company Tour Plansee took place. Together with a rented bus all participants drove to Reutte to the headquarters of the Plansee Group. Plansee Group consists of Plansee SE and Ceratizit Group. Plansee SE produces products made of molybdenum and tungsten and Ceratizit processes tungsten carbide into tools. First, we got a guided tour through the production of Plansee SE, where the reduction of molybdenum oxide to metallic molybdenum was explained. Afterwards we visited the round and flat production as well as the sintering shop. Afterwards, we were given an insight into Plansee"s quality assurance. This is divided into a chemical analysis laboratory, powder laboratory, mechanical-technological materials testing, metal-physical laboratory and non-destructive testing. At noon, we were invited to the canteen for a lunch menu, as well as coffee and cake. In the afternoon we visited the production of Ceratitzit. The production steps of powder preparation, pressing and forming, sintering, surface treatment and coating were explained in more detail. The entire company tour went from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and then we took the bus back to Innsbruck.
