Speakers: Dr. Klaus Luef
Date: April 25, 2023
On April 25, we had the opportunity to visit both the production and the new research center of the company Allnex in Werndorf. Allnex is a globally positioned company and a leading manufacturer of synthetic resins and additives for coatings, paints and varnishes for a wide range of applications in its industry.
Our excursion started at the main train station in Graz, and after a train ride of about 20 minutes we arrived at the Werndorf train station, which is only a few hundred meters away from the company premises. After a briefing on safety measures and rules of conduct in the porter's lodge, there was a presentation of the company by the managing director (DI Götz Pelikan) to get an overview of the different business areas, locations and the product range. This was followed by a presentation on "Safety, Health and Environment
(short: SHE)" strategies by Mr. Peter Keusch. After being equipped with appropriate safety clothing, we were given a guided tour of the new research center by Dr. Katharina Kodolitsch, during which the various areas such as synthesis, analytics and materials testing were shown. After a lunch break, we were guided through the production area by Dr. Klaus Luef. He explained to us the different production steps up to steam generation and waste water disposal. A group photo as a souvenir was of course mandatory.
Presentation on the topic of microplastics, followed by an exchange between the participants, the speaker and the Young Chemists.
