On November 29, Young Chemists invite to the double lecture "Go for green" - "With research to holistic green hydrogen technologies" and "From basic research to exploitation strategies". Dr. Merit Bodner from TU Graz and Dr. Markus Hochegger from the University of Graz will give insights into their research. The lecture will start at 6 p.m. in lecture hall H "Ulrich Santner" in Kopernikusgasse 24. For all participants who cannot be present on site, the lecture will be streamed live. 1st lecture: With research to holistic green hydrogen technologies - Merit Bodner
Fuel cells and electrolysers are important building blocks in the energy transition. However, fuel cells and electrolysers also contain substances that are harmful to the environment. For example, perfluorinated substances such as Teflon. Merit Bodner at the Institute of Chemical and Environmental Engineering is researching how these technologies can be made sustainable in a holistic way. In her lecture, she provides insight into the latest findings.

2nd lecture: From basic research to utilization strategies - Markus Hochegger
The holistic material utilization of lignocellulose has been seen in research circles for decades as key to the sustainable transformation of the chemical industry. However, the successful utilization of lignin, the largest renewable source of aromatic carbon, has not yet progressed beyond pilot scale. Markus Hochegger is a postdoctoral researcher and project leader in the research group of Prof. Katalin Barta Weissert and will present their research focus in his talk, taking a closer look at the EIC Transition project PureSurf.
